The error generally occurs after performing a Plesk control panel upgrade and the complete error message looks like follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Components::componentUpdate() failed: Unable to exec utility <\/span><\/pre>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">packagemng: file does not exist or is not executable:<\/span><\/pre>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\/usr\/local\/psa\/admin\/bin\/packagemng 0: auth.php3:551<\/span><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is due to the<strong> &#8220;packagemng&#8221; file is symlinked to the &#8220;wrapper&#8221; file and the &#8216;wrapper&#8217; file don&#8217;t have the executable permissions<\/strong> for it&#8217;s group user &#8220;psaadm&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The permissions of &#8216;packagemng&#8217; file are (symlink):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"># <\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">ls -la <\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\/usr\/local\/psa\/admin\/bin\/<\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">packagemng<\/span><\/pre>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">lrwxrwxrwx 1 psaadm psaadm Jan 01 packagemng \u00a0-&gt; ..\/sbin\/wrapper<\/span><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>I<\/strong><strong>n my case<\/strong> the permissions of wrapper file were ( there was no executable permission)<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"># ls -la \/usr\/local\/psa\/admin\/sbin\/wrapper <\/span><\/pre>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">---s------ 1 root psaadm Jan 01 \/usr\/local\/psa\/admin\/sbin\/wrapper<\/span><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The correct permissions of the wrapper files are (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> &#8212;s&#8211;x&#8212;<\/span> ) <\/strong>which can be set using the following command:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"># chmod 4110 \/usr\/local\/psa\/admin\/sbin\/wrapper<\/span><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>so it should look like<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">---s--x--- 1 root psaadm 19760 Jan 01 05:20 wrapper<\/span><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Once done, you should be able to access the Plesk control panel.<\/p>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" class=\"mcePaste\" style=\"position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 403px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;\">4110<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may see an &#8220;Unable to exec utility packagemng&#8221; error message while accessing the Plesk control panel.
